Vir Prudens non contra ventum mingit - A wise man does not urinate against the wind
The Club was conceived by Ben Challacombe, Declan Murphy and Matt Bultitude for lots of reasons – which are enshrined in the minutes of our founding meeting. As we all know, previous generations of urologists have founded travelling clubs as they went through their training, and continue to meet frequently to maintain their contacts. Groups such as The Red Admirals and the Holyrood Club have very successful annual or bi-annual meetings and have very loyal membership. As there hasn’t been a new travelling club recently we felt the time was right to set one up.
The enormous changes which urology training was about to undergo means that this group potentially were the last generation of “old-style” trainees to pass through the London Deanery. To celebrate this, LUTS Travelling Club was founded and helps maintain our social and professional contacts as the years go by and we move off to different parts of the country/ globe.
The London Urology Travelling Surgeons (LUTS) Club held its inaugural meeting on Friday 1st April 2005. The meeting was held in the rather splendid surrounds of the King Edward VII private room at Rules restaurant in Covent Garden.
